Every website has a specific design. To be able to achieve the desired design for your Online Store Prestashop 1.7 provides you with the option to install and manage multiple visual themes. Having a good and interesting design is one of the most important things the customer will see that will attract them. Today you are going to learn how to install a visual theme but also you will see the steps for activating it.
In order to install, activate and fully manage the themes of your Online Store, you will have to log in to the Admin area of Prestashop and from the left vertical navigation menu to look for the “Design” option. When you find it, please, click on it. A drop-down menu will appear with the following options:
Out of all these options that appear in the drop-down menu, please, click the “Theme and Logo” option.
You will be redirected to a page called “Theme & Logo > Theme”.
On that page, you will be presented with the currently installed and activated theme. Now, to be able to install a new theme, please, click the “Upload a theme” button at the top right of the page.
Once you click that button you will be redirected to a page that has the same name as the main one “Theme & Logo > Theme”.
The difference here is that you will be presented with three sections for uploading a new theme either by uploading a theme archive or by specifying the URL where that theme archive can be found.
Each one of the sections provides you with the option to choose between different ways of uploading a theme on your Online Store. With the first section, you can import a theme from your computer.
The second section allows you to import themes from the web.
With the third section, the import happens via the FTP service of your web hosting account.
Now, if you would like to purchase a theme then scroll down to the last fourth section and choose from there.
The choice of importing a new theme for your Online Store is in your hands. You can choose what suits you best.
Once you import the file, please, click the “Save” button.
This way you guarantee yourself that the theme will be uploaded.
Once the theme is uploaded you will be redirected to the main “Theme & Logo > Theme” page where the newly installed theme will be shown. It will be positioned in a new section called “Select a theme for the “name of the” shop”.
Now, to activate the theme that you just imported, please, hover over it. The moment you do that a button saying “Use this theme” will appear.
Once you click the “Use this theme” button PrestaShop will refresh the page and that theme will become the current one.
If, on another hand, you want to delete an existing theme, please, make sure that the theme is NOT activated and then hover over it, but this time just click the arrow for the drop-down menu, right next to the “Use this theme” button.
On the drop-down menu a button saying “Delete this theme” will appear. Just click it. That is it. Pretty easy, isn’t it?
