How to configure Store Address and Contact Information in X-Cart


No matter what the nature of your business is, it is necessary to set up your Contact Information. This information represents your brand, therefore providing accurate and complete details to your customers is essential.

In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to take care of this matter within a couple of minutes and a few mouse clicks.

For a start, please log in to your X-Cart Admin Area and navigate through the left-hand side menu bar to Store setup Contact information.

The "Contact information" page is split into three sections - "Identity", "Company address", and "Contacts". Each section holds specific settings related to your Store Information. The Contact Information you insert on this page (company name, website address, physical address, and phone number) is going to be acquired and used for customer invoices, as well as for shipping cost calculations, if you decide to enable such on your store.


Configuring Company Identity Information

The first section is "Identity". Under it, you need to specify the following details:

  • Company name
  • Company website
  • Year in which the store opened

The company website value will be included in the email messages generated on your store and sent to your customers. The company name and the year of establishment will display in the Copyright Notice displayed in the footer of your website pages.

In the second "Company address" section, you have to specify the following details:

  • Street address
  • Country
  • State
  • Fax
  • City
  • Zip/postal code
  • Phone

The physical address you enter here is going to be used as the base from which your items will be transported, and therefore, it will be used for calculating shipping costs. Of course, the above statement will be effective only in case you are offering shippable goods.


Configuring Store Contacts

Last is the "Contacts" section. By default, all email notifications generated by your store (apart from those intended for your customers) are sent to the admin email address specified during the X-Cart installation. In this section, you can control the email addresses to which these notifications will be sent. As you can see, they are classified into the following groups:

  • Site administrator emails - The email address(es) specified in this field, is going to be used as a recipient for store safe mode access key requests; failed admin login attempt notifications; low stock limit warning notifications; data export completion notifications. As well as a sender for user profiles creation, modification, or deletion notifications (to customers);  failed admin login attempt notifications (to admin); order creation, modification, and processing notifications (to customers); order shipping notifications (to customers); order cancelation or failure notifications (to customers);  store safe mode access key requests (to admin). 
  • Customer relations emails - The email address(es) specified in this field is going to be used as a recipient for user profile creation, modification, or deletion notifications. It/they will also be used as a sender for password reset requests.
  • Sales department emails - The email address(es) specified in this field, will be used as a recipient for order creation, modification, and processing notifications; canceled and failed order notifications. As well as a sender for stock level reaching the low limit notifications (to admin); order creation notifications (to customers); order cancellation notifications (to customers).
  • HelpDesk/Support service emails - The email address(es) specified in this field, will receive email messages submitted through the "Contact Us" form on your website. Also, it will be displayed as a contact address to refer to during checkout for customers to whom no payment methods are available.
