Getting Started

Please bear in mind that this tutorial assumes that you have already created your hosting account's email account. If you have not done that yet, please check our tutorial on Managing Email accounts in cPanel.

Afterward, you will need to gather the configuration details required to set up your email account:

  • Email Account(this is typically the name of the account, e.g., [email protected])
  • Email Password
  • IMAP/POP(Incoming) server and port
  • SMTP(Outgoing) server and port

Suppose you are a HostArmada customer and are using our email services. In that case, you can find the required details in the "[HostArmada] New Account Information" email containing all the essential information of your hosting account with us. You can directly review the email from your Client Area by clicking on the email icon located at the top menu bar.

How to start the Gmail email setup on Android

To begin, please locate and open the Gmail App on your android device. In case you do not have email accounts configured yet, the email application will prompt you to add your first account by clicking on "Add an email address".

If you have existing email accounts already configured in your Gmail app, you will need to click on the email icon (your image) located at the top right corner of the screen. Afterward, you will need to select the "Add another account" option.

Add an email address button

In both cases, your android device will take you to the same "Set up email" section, where you will need to select the email account type. To configure a custom email account, please make sure to choose the last "Other" option.

Selecting the other account option

At the first "Add your email address" step, you will need to enter your email address. Once you have entered it, please click on "Manual Setup".

Selecting the Manual Setup option

At the next step, you will need to select whether you will be configuring your email as an IMAP or POP3 account. Depending on your preferences, please choose the corresponding "Personal (POP3)" or "Personal (IMAP)" option.

Please note that the configuration process for both account types is the same, apart from the Incoming mail server settings, which we will explain in detail for each of the protocols.

Selecting IMAP or POP3 configuration

After selecting the desired account configuration type, you will need to enter your email account password and click on "Next".

Entering Email Account password

At the following "Incoming server settings" step, you will need to specify the IMAP/POP3 details:

  • Username - Which, as you will notice, is auto-filled. Typically this is your email address or just the email prefix. For HostArmada customers, it has to be the full email address, therefore, please make sure to leave it as it is.
  • Password - The password is also auto-filled since this is the password associated with your email address.
  • Server - Represents the IMAP/POP3 server address. Typically this is "mail.domain.com" where "domain.com" represents your actual domain name, therefore, please make sure to replace it. Note that you should aim to set the DNS records of your domain correctly to ensure this works. Alternatively, you can directly use the hostname of the server (e.g., eude1.armadaservers.com).

Configuring Incoming server settings

The next, "Outgoing server settings", is the step where you will need to configure the SMTP settings.

  • Require sign-in - Please make sure to keep this setting enabled to be authenticated on the server and to be able to send emails through your smart device.
  • Username - The username is again your email address.
  • Password - The password is the one associated with the given email address.
  • SMTP server - In this field, you will need to specify the SMTP server. In most cases, this will be "mail.domain.com", where "domain.com" represents your actual domain name. Alternatively, you can directly use the hostname of the SMTP server (e.g., eude1.armadaservers.com).

Configuring Outgoing server settings

When done, please click on the "Next" button.

At the following step, you will be able to configure your synchronization preferences and additional account settings.

Configuring Synchronization settings

Once you are ready, please click on the "Next" button.

At this point, you have successfully performed the Gmail email account setup. If you wish to customize your account further, you have the option of doing so.

Configuring Account and Display names

When you are ready, just hit "Next," and you will be good to go.
