How to use the Plesk Advisor tool

Introduction

Plesk Advisor is a built-in intelligence and recommendation system designed to help you optimize your server’s performance, security, and configuration. It analyzes your hosting environment and provides actionable suggestions in areas such as:

  • Server security
  • Website performance
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • System updates
  • Resource usage
  • Best practices for stability and compliance

The Plesk Advisor makes it easier to maintain a healthy server by presenting recommendations in clear categories, allowing you to apply fixes with just a few clicks.

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of accessing and using the Plesk Advisor tool.

Getting Started

First and foremost, please ensure you are logged in to your Plesk control panel. To do that, please enter your IP address, hostname, or domain name inside your web browser’s search bar and add “:8443” at the end. It should look something like: “https://yourdomain.com:8443”. By doing so, you will be prompted by a login form that requests your username and password.

After logging in with your username and password, Plesk will automatically display the “Websites & Domains” page, which will serve as the index page from where you can manage everything related to your websites and domains on Plesk.

Accessing the Plesk Advisor

To open the Advisor, please navigate to the “Tools & Settings” page using the left-hand side menu.

Each category includes specific suggestions that help improve your server or website.

In addition to categorizing all the advice and recommendations, at the top of the screen, you will see a score indicating exactly how tuned your server is at that point. In our case, the score is around the middle.

Going further into this tutorial, we will cover every category so you get a better understanding of them.

Viewing and Applying Recommendations

Each recommendation is grouped into the categories mentioned above and includes a title and an explanation. Typically, Pleks will also include a “fix” button on the right side of the recommendation itself. In addition, it will show how it will improve your server rating, adding a fun twist to the entire process.

In our case, the recommendation is to install the SpeedKit Extension. To proceed, please click on the “Install” button corresponding to the recommendation itself.

Plesk will automatically take the necessary steps to implement the fix.
