How to change the Hostname of your HostArmada Self-Managed VPS?

Introduction

A hostname is the unique name that identifies your server on a network. It’s often used to distinguish your server from others and can appear in various server-related operations, such as email headers, command prompts, or SSL certificates (for example, server1.yourdomain.com).

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of changing the hostname of your HostArmada self-managed VPS plan. Let’s get started!

Getting Started

To change the hostname of your HostArmada self-managed VPS, please log in to your Client Area with us and open the management panel of your self-managed VPS plan. If you are unsure how to access the Client Area, please check our tutorial on the matter. After logging in, please access the management interface of your self-managed VPS by clicking on the service icon corresponding to your package.

Upon doing so, you will be redirected to the self-managed VPS interface, from where you can perform all sorts of management actions.

Changing your self-managed VPS server’s hostname

To change your self-managed VPS server’s hostname, please locate the triple dot button located on the right side of the “Restart” button located near the top right corner of your screen.

Performing this action will expand a drop-down menu with additional management options, one of which is the “Change Hostname” option. Please click on it.

Doing so will create a pop-up window in the middle of your screen with a text field inside where you can type in the new hostname of your self-managed VPS.

After typing in your brand new server hostname, please click on the “Ok” button on the bottom right side of the pop-up window. Please click on the “Ok” button.

Doing so will open another pop-up window, which will notify you that changing the hostname will require a reboot. To proceed, please click the “Ok” button on the bottom right side of the screen once again.

Once you perform the above, the pop-up screen will disappear, and the state of your server will change to “Restarting”. Please wait until the state changes to “Running”.

Afterward, you can start using your server again with its brand-new hostname!
