A server snapshot is a complete, point-in-time image of your VPS, capturing its current state - including files, configurations, and system settings. Snapshots are extremely useful for creating backups before making major changes, updates, or experiments. If something goes wrong, you can easily restore the server to its exact previous state using the saved snapshot, minimizing downtime or data loss.
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create and restore a snapshot for your HostArmada self-managed VPS plan. This process will help you safeguard your data and ensure that you can quickly recover your server whenever needed.
To create and restore snapshots of your self-managed HostArmada VPS, please log in to your Client Area with us and open the management panel of your self-managed VPS plan. If you are unsure how to access the Client Area, please check our tutorial on the matter. After logging in, please access the management interface of your self-managed VPS by clicking on the service icon corresponding to your package.
Upon doing so, you will be redirected to the self-managed VPS interface, from where you can perform all sorts of management actions.
To create a snapshot of your server, please locate the triple-dot button on the right side of the “Restart” button, located near the top right corner of your screen.

Performing this action will expand a drop-down menu with additional management options, one of which is the “Snapshot Management” option. Please click on it.
Doing so will generate a pop-up window, and in the middle, you will see the “+ Create New” button. Please press the button to proceed.

After pressing the button, a brief loading screen will appear, indicating that the snapshot creation process is in progress. After this process is complete, you will see a notification in the top right corner, and in the middle, a pop-up window will appear, populated with your snapshot.
Restoring a snapshot is achieved by following the same steps we covered earlier. Please navigate to the snapshots using the steps above, and once you click on the “Snapshot Management” option.

You will see two links located on the top right side of the pop-up window: the Revert & Delete options. Please press the “Revert” link to immediately restore the created snapshot, or press the “Delete” button to delete it. If you do not want to perform either of those actions, please close the window by clicking on the “Close” button located in the bottom right corner of your screen.
IMPORTANT: You can only create one snapshot at a time. If you wish to create a new one, please delete the old one and then proceed.
There you have it! A simple and seamless method of snapshotting your server and restoring it with a single click! We hope that our breakdown of this process was easy to follow, and you were able to perform all these operations without any hassle! If you encounter any issues with any of them, please don't hesitate to contact our support team via the live chat option on our website or through your Client Area’s ticketing system.
