A server upgrade increases your self-managed VPS’s resources, such as CPU cores, memory (RAM), storage space, or bandwidth, to improve performance or handle higher traffic demands. Upgrading is a straightforward way to enhance your server’s capacity without downtime or data loss, ensuring your websites and applications continue running smoothly as your needs grow.
In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the process of upgrading your self-managed VPS plan. This will help you seamlessly scale your resources and maintain optimal performance as your online projects expand.
To upgrade your HostArmada self-managed VPS package, please log in to your Client Area with us and open the management panel of your self-managed VPS plan. If you are unsure about how to access the Client Area, please refer to our tutorial on the matter. After logging in, please access the management interface of your self-managed VPS by clicking on the service icon corresponding to your package.
Upon doing so, you will be redirected to the self-managed VPS interface, from where you can perform all sorts of management actions.
To upgrade your self-managed VPS, locate the triple-dot button on the right side of the “Restart” button, located near the top-right corner of your screen.

Performing this action will expand a drop-down menu with additional management options, one of which is the “Upgrade” option. Please click on it.
After selecting the “Upgrade” option, a pop-up window will appear in the center of your screen, containing a table section populated with your upgrade options. The section will include the resources of the more powerful plans you can upgrade to. Please select the “Upgrade” link corresponding to the plan you wish to upgrade to, in order to initiate the process.
Underneath the table section, you will find an explanation of how the price calculation and plan activations work.
Clicking on the “Upgrade” link will trigger a loading page, and after a few seconds, you will be redirected to your upgrade invoice.

Upon provisioning the invoice, the upgrade process will begin immediately, and once it's complete, you will see the state of your self-managed VPS as “Running.” The new plan will be reflected under the “Service Details” label in your Client Area.
