How to configure Site Emails and Email Templates in Una Social Network

Introduction

Similarly to any other software, Una sends several auto-generated email notifications to the admin user(s) and the end-users. In this guide, we are going to show you how to configure your email sender and recipient addresses, and how to customize the content, the header, and the footer of the default email notification templates.

 

Getting Started

As any other configuration aspect, the email settings are also managed within your Una Studio. Therefore, the first step we need you to take is log in into it.

 

Settings and Polyglot Apps

 

Our primary focus is going to be on the "Settings" and "Polyglot" Apps as they hold the email settings of your Una site.

 

Configuring Site Emails

Let's first start with the configuration of the sender and recipient email accounts. Please open the "Settings" App and navigate to System Site Settings.

Under it, you can find the site email settings:

  • Email to receive critical site notifications - In this field, you have to specify the recipient email address to which all automatically generate email notifications concerning the functionality of your website to be sent.
  • Email to send site messages from - In this field, you need to enter the sender address to be used for all automatically generated outgoing email notification from your site.

When ready, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Save" button to apply the changes.

With this done, your email sender and recipient addresses are successfully configured, and you are ready to continue to the following step.

 

Customizing Email Templates

Una allows you to completely customize the content of the automatically generated email notification on your website. To do so, please access the "Polyglot" App and open the "Emails" tab.

Under it, you can see a list of the email notifications of all Modules currently installed and enabled in your Una site. Using the dropdown menu at the top of the page, you can list the email notification of a specific Module. You can also use the search tool to quickly locate the email notification you want to edit.

The process of editing all email notifications is generally the same. Therefore, we are going to give you an example by editing the first one. To customize a given notification, please click on the corresponding pencil icon. 

Upon doing that, a pop-up window appears displaying the email notification details.

  • System name - This is the internal title of the email notification. It is intended only for your reference.
  • Subject - This is the subject of the email notification, as it is going to appear in the recipient's mailbox.
  • Body - This content box contains the HTML code of the email notification body content. The placeholders, in our example "{site_url}" and "{site_name}", are going to be automatically replaced with the corresponding values defined in your Una site configuration (Settings Site Settings Site title).

 

Save Template Notification

 

When you perform the desired changes, please click on the "Save" button to apply them. You can the rest of the email notifications in the exact same manner.

Once you are ready, please switch to the "Email Template" tab. Under it, you can edit the email template header and footer. For example, you can add your site logo and business details. The available placeholder to use are: "{site_name}", "{about_us}", "{unsubscribe}".

When you are ready, please scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Submit" button to apply the changes.

Once this is done, we recommend you go ahead and test the functionality of the emails and the appearance of the email templates. Once you ensure everything works and looks as intended, you are all set!
