Being able to change your timezone and publication language settings on your blog is going to be very beneficial in certain situations. Ghost is a platform that allows you to schedule the publication of your posts. If the timezone set is different from the one in your geo-location, you may experience either a delayed or a preliminary publication.
The publication language settings will change the HTML lang attribute value on your blog, allowing themes that are built using that specific language to be automatically translated when installed.
In this tutorial, we are going to talk about how you can change the timezone and the publication language in your Ghost blog. Let’s get started!
For a start, you have to log into your Ghost Admin Dashboard. To do so, please open your favorite browser and enter your domain name, followed by "/ghost". For example:
Once logged in, please navigate through the left-hand sidebar to Settings > General.
Upon doing that, you will be redirected to the "General Settings" page, where you can modify various aspects of your Ghost blog.
Within the “General Settings” page, please locate the “Publication Info” section. Under it, you will find the “Site timezone” row. By clicking on the “Expand” button, you can list the settings it holds.
From the dropdown menu, please select the desired timezone for your blog. We recommend setting it to the timezone of your geographical location.
After you are done, please press the “Save settings” button, located on the top right corner of the page.
Within the “Publication Info” section, you will also locate the setting which controls the default publication language. As the name suggests, it is the “Publication Language” row. Similarly to the previous example, you may list its option by clicking on the “Expand” button.
When expanded, you will see a text field containing the code of the current language. The default one is always "en" (English). If your blog is targeting visitors from your country, you can set the code corresponding to your native language. Please click on it and enter the language code of your desired language.
When you enter the language code, please press the “Save settings” button located on the top right corner of the screen.
And there you have it! The approach to managing the timezone and language publication settings on your Ghost blog. We hope that the tutorial has proven to be useful, and you have learned something new! Feel free to take a look at the rest of our Ghost tutorials.
