How to change Store Logo and Favicon in OpenCart 3


Business labeling increases the recognition of your brand and it is an essential part of marketing and advertisement campaigns. We are aware of how important that is for you as an E-commerce store owner. Therefore, we decided to dedicate this tutorial to guide you on how to change your Store Logo and Favicon images and set your own business logos. You will be surprised how simple this is to achieve in OpenCart 3.


Getting Started

In order to begin, please log in to your OpenCart Admin Dashboard and navigate through the left menu bar to System > Settings.


Accessing the Settings page


After you access the “Stores” page, please click on the “Edit” button (the pencil icon) next to your store name and you will be redirected to the “Edit Settings” page.

On the new page, you will see a number of tabs containing the system settings of your store. The main focus of this guide will on the “Image” tab, therefore, please make sure to switch to it.


Configuring Store Logo

The Store Logo is usually positioned at the upper-left corner at your store frontend. If you have installed OpenCart with the default theme and you have not yet made any changes it should look exactly like the screenshot example below.

Please note that depending on the theme you are using it might be positioned differently.

Anyhow, the process of changing it and setting up your brand’s logo is exactly the same. All you will need to do is to click on the image next to “Store Logo and hit the “Edit” button (the blue pencil icon).


Accessing the Image Manager


That will then display the Image Manager and you will be able to upload a new image or select one of the available images in your store gallery. To upload an image, please click on the blue “Upload” button and select the desired image from your local computer. Once the upload is completed a pop-up window will be displayed informing you it was successful.

Please note that this message will be displayed only if the image dimensions match the allowed ones by the theme you are using. You can manage the dimensions by navigating to Extensions > Extensions > Themes > Edit theme. You can also consider resizing the image locally using your favorite tool.

When the image is successfully uploaded you will see it listed under the Image Manager. In order to select it, all you need to do is click on it.

Once this is done, please make sure to click on the blue “Save” button positioned at the top right corner.

When you are ready, please go ahead and double-check if the image displays properly on your store frontend. If you are pleased with the result - you are all set!


Configuring Favicon

Favicon is the logo that appears in the browser title bar. Favicon icons are generally 16 x 16 pixels or 32 x 32 pixels in size. If you have not yet made any changes you will see OpenCart’s default favicon on your store frontend.

The process of changing the favicon of your store is pretty much the same as changing the logo. All you will need to do is click on the image next to “Icon”, upload the image or select one from your store gallery and click on the new image in order to select it.

When you are ready, please do not forget to click on the blue “Save” button at the top right corner of the page.

Once this is done, please check if the image displays properly on your store frontend. If it looks as expected - you are good to go.
